President Dawed Sharhan’s Statement to the Class of 2028
I’m the P3 class president alongside my friend and vice president Michael DeRenzo. Michael and I became acquainted during orientation, where we found out we both commute from Long Island. We quickly decided we wanted to take charge and be there for our peers. We were campaigning before we knew it, and met a number of our awesome classmates in the process.
One of my interests that tends to take over my life is sports (soccer, football, basketball). It’s tough being a Jets fan though (maybe this is our year). I also love anything food-related, especially desserts. Stop me for food recommendations if you ever see me on campus! We are excited to know better throughout our time here together. Michael and I will do our best to be great leaders for our class, so that we can all meet our goals of becoming esteemed pharmacists.
Vice President Michael DeRenzo’s Statement to the Class of 2028
I’m from Levittown, Long Island and vice president for the Class of 2028, alongside president Dawed Sharhan. I look forward to becoming a positive influence here at LIU Brooklyn. I am a gym-rat and love all things music, so if you see me around campus, strike up a conversation about either of these and you will make my day. Despite the challenge it already presents, the semester has been enjoyable. More so, I have loved meeting my classmates while campaigning. My classmates are uniquely interesting.
The late Mac Miller once said “Fear to me, is a guide more than anything.” I stand by this. I’ve used this quote to endure hardships, and it is even more powerful now that I’m in a leadership position. This quote reminds me of my most difficult life decisions. It puts up a mirror to the fact that everything I’ve ever wanted has been on the other side of fear. Fear guides us to our greatest selves.
I know I will do my best to lead our class to a successful academic year and I look forward to meeting more of you around campus.
