As a child, I recall accompanying my parents to medical appointments and assuming the role of interpreter. Back then, I didn't fully grasp the significance of this role, but now I realize the profound implications it had for my parents. This realization fuels my pride as a Hispanic student pharmacist as I recognize the potential bridging language barriers can have on enhancing health outcomes. By drawing upon my understanding of Hispanic culture, I am able to create stronger connections and relationships with Spanish-speaking patients. By nurturing these connections, I can instill a sense of trust, which is fundamental to educating patients about the importance of adherence to treatment plans. Through counseling, I can assist patients in comprehending the proper administration of their medications, ultimately promoting a positive impact on their overall health and well-being. My identity as a Hispanic student pharmacist positions me as a role model, inspiring and encouraging future generations who share the same objective of enhancing healthcare outcomes for our community.
